This handbuilt stoneware vase is inspired by the water element and the feeling of entering a magical forest. Imagine calm and playful water streams making their way down and through tree trunks, moving across obstacles, moss, and other plant growth such as ferns and roots.
Over several days, I slowly modelled and refined its organic form, allowing the surface to grow with the water stream’s path in mind. What would it encounter, how would the water flow adapt, what colors and structures would it meet?
The 35 cm height and 14 cm diameter make it ideal for XXL flower bouquets or even a medium-sized indoor tree plant, becoming a grounding sculptural presence in your space rather than just a functional container. The interior is spacious and stable, so you can build abundant, wild arrangements that mirror the forest energy of the piece.
I used multiple glazes and experimented with oxides to create a layered, shifting surface, where subtle color transitions and textures reveal themselves differently from each angle. This gives the vase a living, almost mystical character, and it draws your attention and curiosity to follow the water stream’s path.
Each side has its own small universe, inviting you to turn the vase and discover new details over time. It is one of a kind, fully handmade, and carries the marks of slow, intentional making.
Place it as a statement piece on the floor, by a window, or next to your reading corner, where it can hold flowers, branches, or plants and anchor the room with a calm yet magical presence. If you’d like, I can also help you with suggested styling or bouquet ideas that harmonize with its water-forest energy.
